Where to Find the Best Deals
If you plan to book your trip to South Tyrol & the Dolomites on your own, here are our go-to travel resources.
After exploring the region for a decade, these are the tried and tested platforms and tools we use to find the best deals and travel stress-free.✅
Best Accommodation Resources
Booking.com is our top choice for finding the best prices at virtually every hotel and resort in South Tyrol. On top of that, their mapping and filter tool makes it super easy to find the ideally located accommodation matched with our preferred amenities and services.
Expedia is our second go-to booking platform. You can sometimes find a sweeter deal and more available properties. By the way, if you are a member of Hotels.com rewards program, use their platform, it is owned by Expedia and provides the same search results.
Vrbo has a wonderful selection of rentals in South Tyrol including mountain farm stays. They have the lowest service fees in the rental industry and provide a variety of accommodations for every budget. These can book up fast so we recommend jumping on a property you like.
Rental Car Resources
South Tyrol has an excellent public transit system, but if you want to freely explore the region we recommend renting a car.
Our trip planning guide details everything you need to drive in Italy safely and confidently.
We have great luck finding the best car rental deals on Discover Cars. As an aggregator site, they do the hard work for you and find the most affordable choices. In addition, they offer free cancellation and provide 24-hour assistance in English.
AutoEurope is the other rental car platform we use to find deals. Its online interface is not as slick as Discover Cars, but once you understand how to effectively filter search results you can pull up some great finds.
Travel Insurance Resources
Travel insurance is the most important item to purchase before traveling to Italy. You never know what can happen while traveling abroad. Especially when visiting vast wildernesses like the Alps and the Dolomites. Most health insurance plans don’t cover international travel. Purchasing the right travel insurance plan upfront covers injuries, illnesses as well as accidents and trip cancellations that may occur.
For only a few dollars a day, it is well worth the expense. To compare the best trip insurance plans, we use Yonder and Travel Insurance Master. Both are fast, convenient and offer a variety of plans so you can find the right policy for your trip.

Omio is the public transportation platform we use to research train and bus routes as well as book tickets. It is easy to use and allows you to explore multiple travel scenarios so you can find what is best for your schedule and budget.
