We did a full day tour of the South Tyrolean wine road and it was a highlight of our trip. Franz took us to three separate vineyards where we tasted more than a dozen wines, and he wove in the history of the region, the winemaking traditions specific to South Tyrol, and an account of what gives each wine its particular character, while also giving us an opportunity to meet directly with small producers and see the scale of larger operations. Despite his expertise, Franz never makes the experience feel like a lesson. He shares his genuine enthusiasm for the wines and region, plus fascinating and funny stories from his years as a sommelier and restaurant manager. We used Throne & Vine to plan our time in the Dolomites with our kids and they nailed it! 10/10 and five stars no question! I highly recommend anyone planning on visiting the Dolomites to start with these guys and have them plan your trip! Because of the depth of their familiarity and actual time spent in these mountains themselves, they knew exactly how to guide us and helped us to craft an itinerary our kids will be talking about for years. No need to think twice..just buy the trip planner. I wish I had this concise & comprehensive planning booklet before my last trip to The Dolomites in Val Gardena. Chapters including Know Before You Go, Travel Insurance and Matters of Money are invaluable for all travel & hiking destinations and are not only specific to the Dolomites & the section on Money Matters will actually cover the cost of the trip planner by the information they give you about ATM Machines. Throne & Vine has created a wonderful resource & it is a worthy investment for your holiday. I highly recommend it and will be using it when I travel to The Dolomites in 2027. We did the food and wine tour with Franz, and it was fantastic! His background and knowledge not only gave us insights into the regions history, but helped us learn so much more about general history and knowledge of food. Would highly recommend as he has great connections in the area. He even took time to meet with us the day before the tour to meet us and ensure everything he had planned aligned with our interests. He also put together a regional cheese and meat board with other snacks of the region so we could enjoy it at the winery. Next time we’re back, we will definitely book time with Franz! They did a phenomenal job helping me navigate all the logistics for our trip to the Dolomites. The 4 days of hikes were all different and beautiful in their own respect with different experiences and views at each. The parking tips, route planning and hotel/dining info were perfect. I highly recommend using them for anyone looking to do something outside of the basic touristy/crowded instagram places. I typically do all of my own research and planning. This was the first time I hired someone else to help me out and it was an incredible experience. I utilized Kate and Vin’s consultation service and they went above and beyond. They are true experts in the region of South Tyrol which is not an easy region to understand until visiting (and even then!) My 18 year old son and I did a hike with Ivan in June 2026. We took the Seceda gondola up to the top of the mountain and then Ivan took us on a great hike away from all the tourists and back down to his home town on the other side of the mountain. We had limited time in the Dolomites and I was very happy that I booked a hike through Throne & Vine to be able to get the best experience.
